Silver Screen Luxe || Nostalgic Disposition

Nostalgic Disposition is my semester two body which possesses a beautiful, dreamy romance with a juxtaposing element of texture. The body consists of three garments a sequin and silk de chine top, little shorts and  a maxi cape. We were given a brief to create resort wear with a 40/50's inspired element and using a monochromatic palette so i designed garments using shades of grey leading to white and was inspired by the 40's trend of highwaisted shorts.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have been named as Vogue's Best Dressed sisters, gracing the cover of the special edition of 'Vogue US Best Dressed' which runs through the most stylish stars of the year. The cover shot was photographed by Craig McDean, and sees the twins wearing lacy face masks as well as their own designs from The Row's Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Inside the issue, the duo pose for casual portraits with unstyled hair and wrapped in casual lounge wear. The issue also runs through the rising style stars of the year (Clémence Poésy, Florence Welsh and more feature) as well as 'dynamic duos' - most stylish sisters.

Mark Holgate, Vogue Fashion News Director and Editor of the best dressed issue, spoke on why he chose the Olsen sisters to grace the cover of the issue: "Are there any more chic, stylish, cool, and original sisters than Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen? They are incredibly stylish. They get it right a lot of the time and then sometimes they don't get it right. That's actually great because it shows that it's their hands reaching into their wardrobes, they don't have someone telling them, 'This is cool, this is hot, this is what you should be wearing.' It comes from within them. It's instinctual, look at what they've done with [their fashion labels] The Row and Elizabeth & James. They are legitimate fashion forces."

Statement Bags

During the Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Weeks, the statement bag dominated as most favoured attention-grabbing accessory. From neon-lined clutch bags to leopard print totes, these bags formed the focal point of the look, demanding that you stare at them lustfully. Models such as Hanne Gaby Odiele, as well as editor Taylor Tomasi Hill, demonstrated the power of the clutch - choosing a bag that either contrasted with the colours of their look or coordinated beautifully. From bags by Balenciaga, Céline and Hermés, these stylish Fashion Week goers have all donned the perfect finishing piece that not only completes their outfit - it makes it.
