Set in a Mediterranean beachside forest, Karl Lagerfeld's Spring 2013 Couture collection for Chanel certainly lived up to it's expectations. The luxuriously detailed collection brought a touch of shadowed drama through the slight reference to German Romanticism, but also revealed the authority of the Chanel workrooms from the carefully handwoven pale and charcoal tweeds to the thigh high boots made from lace and snakeskin. Lagerfeld used embroidery as a print for the magnificent evening dresses and was inspired by thirties floral prints of meadow flowers and blooms.
It's all very Chanel to me...but what could be more Chanel than a fabulous tweed?
