Discovery

I have come to realise that I may be a little bit obsessed with social media...blogger, pinterest, instagram, you name it I've got it! But I honestly don't know what I would do without it!
Yesterday I (unexpectedly) spent the majority of my day nannying, but as soon as I found out that it was going to be an all day thing, I made a mind plan and knew exactly what I was going to take with me to keep myself occupied, my laptop of course and umm yes...my charger, I do seem to spend ALOT of time with my little apple friend and it never seems to be able to cope alone.
So, I sat there on every single fashion website, blog and social media platform I could think of (that would fit into my tabs bar without hiding), clicking away link after link, photo after photo...this can I tell you is my absolute favourite thing to do, it might sound weird now but try it and then let me know how much you love it.
I particularly love it so much because of all the new things you can discover, which brings me to the inspiration behind today's post about discovery. Yesterday after hours of clicking through to several pages and links I stumbled across a photography website of photographer Sandra Semburg, where I was immediately impressed by her amazing work. The images that I loved the most were her Fashion Week backstage ones so I've put a few together for you, but be sure to check out her website she is very talented.

It's A CHANEL Kind of World

Take a step into this wonderful, wonderful world of Chanel at their Fall 2013 collection show, where the darkling was sparkling with glittered tweeds and metallic threads.
With a globe that revolved before our eyes and that was literally placed centre stage, showing (with a tiny Chanel logo-ed flags) the location of all the Chanel stores around the world, it created a starlight spacey effect which I guess rubbed off on to the collection or vice versa.
The collection was dark and lean with a favourited silhouette that was fitted to the hip then flared out into a short skirt over what is referred to as "waders"but if your unsure what I'm talking about its those over the knee thigh high sock things made of leather or tweed in this case. The other key shaped was also quite equally streamlined and cut high on the thigh at the front and dipping to mid calf at the back.
As usual with Chanel the fabrics were a given...anything that looked woven and the colour palette was quite monochromatic throughout.

I love this collection the monochromatic colours, the thick wovens and those thigh high what ever you want to call them sock things are amazing...the only disappointment is that Karl didn't pop out the top of the globe after the show and literally dominate the world, oh well theres always next time.

Amen To Dolce & Gabbana

I thought I'd start off this Monday with something a little fancy and fresh...Dolce and Gabbana's Fall 2013 collection that is. Other than the reference to religion and the Byzantine being blatantly obvious, I thought I'd elaborate a little more on this collection and share with all you lovelies something different this morning. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for their Fall 2013 collection have used  the golden mosaics of Sicily's cathedral as a main focus point and have created a romanticised view of the Catholic Church. Dolce and Gabbana sent out, on the runway about a dozen dresses printed with Monreale's famous Byzantine and Venetian mosaics and just as many cardinal red lacy frocks. There was lots of heavily hand beaded garments and evening numbers with religious figures printed upon them. The main colour theme was clearly and obviously gold which is associated with with royalty and represents the colour of the heavens, however the other main re-occuring colours are red and blue.
The accessories include crowns, large detailed and religiously symbolic earrings, printed and embroidered clutches and heavily detailed and coiled eye wear, again suggesting a higher power.

The collection is definitely something different and unexpected but that in fact is what I love about it because it's something that will be remembered, so I've selected a few backstage images just to show you the beauty and detail that has gone into this amazing collection but also the time and effort that has been put into the styling.

Behind The Best

Behind the best, come the best of behind the scenes so today I have compiled a whole heaps of inspiring backstage images which are so carefully captured 'in the moment.' Take a minute to take a look at some of these fabulous snaps, they really show what some of the key Fall 2013 season trends are but also showcase some of what will soon be the hottest products...and yes I am talking about those Isabel Marant wedge booties!
Featuring the likes of, Balmain, Kenzo, Chanel, Rick Owens and Alexander McQueen just to name a few, we can see there are similar trends throughout the various collections. Leather and wool is one of the most popular trends for fall and always will be. From the sleek and sophisticated use of leather in Balmain to the cool and textured leather at Kenzo it creates a big statement and will always be a winner, well at least in my eyes. Metallics and embellishments are huge, the key shoe style is a sleek wedge and bold garment features are making an appearance. If you decide to enter the world of Chanel, which you quite possibly could literally do considering how huge the globe was (centre stage that is), I say put on your thigh high "waders" and strut your stuff in something dark.
For now, happy Friday fashion friends!
