My Place

A very happy goodmorning to everyone! Firstly I have to say that I'm very sorry for my lack of posts in the last week or so, but its that crazy time of year again where my fashion design college life takes over! I have been busy designing, drawing, practice making garments, fabric sourcing and patternmaking which to me feels like this process is going around in circles as changes are being made but then returning to their original form...frustrating I know! However today I thought I'd start Monday fresh with a post and some insight into what my inspiration revolves around at the moment. So I have decided to call the post today "My Place" as this is the name of a pin board on my pinterest profile. It is actually for a Sportsgirl competition I am entering where you pin images that inspire you. I have selected some of these images and will explain what some of them mean to me.
Ok so some are just purely inspiration or things that I find beautiful, but others I am particularly inspired by...so Cara Delevingne I am loving at the moment she is just an effortless beauty, I'm currently dreaming of New York, I'm really obsessed with pretty backpacks even though I refuse to by one, I'm loving this cooler weather and the fashion that comes with it so neutral knits and lastly inspirational quotes that happen to keep me going in this time of chaos!

MBFW Day 3 || BEC & BRIDGE

Lightness pervaded Bec and Bridge's SS12/13 collection which previewed on Day 3 of MBFW. The collection focused on capri's, crops, crisp white separates, printed shirting and fitted dresses which all adapted the key colours of white (obviously), navy peach, pink and powder blue. The collection very much set the vaccay-vibe and a glamourous island location for the gorgeous resort clothing.

MBFW Day 3 || ALICE MCCALL

Here's something you probably didn't know, I am a huge fan of babushka dolls hence why I love the inspiration behind Alice McCall's SS12/13 collection from MBFW where she looked to Russian babushka dolls and folkish and futuristic architecture and fashion for inspiration. The collection included fit and flare silhouettes and features such as floral motifs, cotton voile lace, scalloped edging and architectural and floral digital prints. The collection's key colours included tangerine, nude, white, pale pink, red and powder blue and highlighted several trends such as graphic prints, sheers and peplums. If you ask me I think this is such a cute collection that is very Alice McCall and with the styling, accessories and especially makeup I think she did a great job of portraying the babushka doll. In the photos I have included some of my favourite looks from the show but also the mood board showing the inspiration behind the collection.

MBFW Day 3 || SARA PHILLIPS

Prints, pleats and super slick presentation, pretty much sums up Sara Phillips' SS12/13 collection. The collection showcased a range of different prints which made it unique and stand out from other designers. The prints include a graphic "Animalia" inspired print along with a photographic orchid floral which were styled back with eye-catching black and turquoise stripes and a smudgy-like polka dot print. Apart from the prints there was also some lace and pleated numbers which added a textural element to the garments. If you ask me, I'd say who else can make an animalia inspired print look so chic!
