Bec and Bridge certainly brought a magical mix of colours, trends and silhouettes to the runway in their SS13/14 collection which previewed at MBFWA this morning.
With a 90's influence on the collection there was also very stark contrasts between the silhouettes and trends, being tight vs oversized, sexy vs. sporty and nostalgic vs. modern. There was a sporty/athletic element to the garments, with racer back dresses, oversized sport inspired pieces and leather shifts, in contrast to the more nostalgic and sexy garments which were body hugging, sheer and midi length at the hem. The bias cut garments, fabric selection such as satin and colour palette including salmon, silver and spearmint all suggest a sexier and softer silhouette whereas the black leather, boxy silhouettes and garment features such as drawstring and racer backs definitely highlight the sporty elements, showcasing this stark contrast in trends.
Although this is something a little different to what bec&bridge usually showcase, I think they have definitely been successful in their change of aesthetic...I'm loving the sequin and sheer numbers, ooo and not to mention the spearmint!
